On March 9th, 2021, the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV) attended the 15th Annual meeting of Deans and Directors of the diplomatic training institutions of ASEAN+3 organized online by Japan.
The Meeting was attended by Directors, Vice Directors of the diplomatic training institutions of ASEAN+3. Many heads of the delegation are Ambassadors or used to hold important positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representative missions abroad. Besides, the 15th Meeting also had the participation of Mr. A. Yakovenko, director of the Diplomatic Academy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian as a guest speaker.
Continuing the success of the training course for young diplomats on the sidelines of the 14th Annual Meeting hosted by Viet Nam in 2019, this year, on March 8th, 2021, Japan organized a Seminar for young diplomats of ASEAN+3. The Seminar had the participation of Doctor Nakatani Hiroki, former Assistant Director General of World Health Organization (WHO), Senior Advisor of Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and Mr. Ono Keiichi, head of the Department of Global Issues, Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There were four Vietnamese young diplomats. They come from ASEAN, North East Asia, Multilateral Economic Cooperation, and International Organizations Department.

The Meeting included 3 discussion sessions: (i) Prospects for New Coronavirus Countermeasures and Post-corona Training, (ii) Language Training Efforts, Evaluations, and Incentives, (iii) Future Cooperation and Information Sharing among ASEAN+3 training institutions.
The host country, Japan, developed the discussion sessions’ topics in a diversified, substantive way, linked with the common interests of the countries. The Meeting was great opportunity for ASEAN+3 countries to not only discussed issues regarding diplomatic training, but also shared information about responses to Covid-19 pandemic in each country. Thereby, member countries have also proposed direction for organizing training programs during and after the pandemic.

Although this year's Meeting was shortened in terms of time and number of sessions, delegates put forward given many initiatives on cooperation programs, data sharing, opening substantial opportunities for more effective cooperation among ASEAN+3 diplomatic training institutions in the future./.
